The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Might Solve This

Whenever a significant honors show nears, you'll find an outcry to include of new categories to acknowledge overlooked contributions and satisfy the hearts of enthusiasts dedicated to specific genres.

A fellow writer previously argued supporting a scary games classification. It would be amazing. The same goes for board games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize since similar to blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and important of all. Here's the proposal: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and typically spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that movie academies steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents a necessary evil within the realm of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse they hardly constitute one unified medium.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards currently feature genre categories for Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these classifications successfully include numerous genres, and you can find room accommodating various experiences.

Not so for puzzle games. No appropriate category exists for their placement. Examine these examples from this year’s best games, each quite distinct: the architectural riddles of one title, fast-paced pattern recognition of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. What category would fit them within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens outstanding logic titles released every year without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit for categories like Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested Indie races.

  • An iconic brain-teaser got overlooked for anything in 2014
  • A different innovative game received no nominations that year
  • A beloved organization game got ignored that year
  • Just some logic titles barely qualified for small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

Commonly they're compact experiences, yet the craft in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most popular titles in the world continuing this trend for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games for the title of most purchased experience; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

The Solution and Justification

Puzzle games wouldn’t have such difficulty. One could readily select five nominees with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

Restating the point, these are games without proper classification in important events. Puzzle game makers operate at the hard edge of video game design, developing some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Just like film action specialists, they deserve recognition. Let’s not keep them waiting decades.
